John is starting his new job tomorrow!! We are so pleased that we get to stay in our house and in this town. Thank you to all who shared your warm thoughts with us these last 3 weeks. It has been enough stress to last for the whole year. Here's hoping that the rest of 2009 goes smoothly.

Alice is doing so well. As you can see in the picture, she is really starting to master the use of her hands for grabbing and holding on to things. I understand now why so many new moms cut their hair really short - ouch! Alice is also moving into the stage where she puts everything in her mouth. Her current favorite toy is a little elephant and she uses its trunk as her makeshift pacifier.
She is doing really well with cereal. We have been giving her rice cereal mixed with formula and fruit for about two weeks now. She has had applesauce, pears and bananas. She LOVES bananas but yesterday her face started breaking out. It sort of looks and feels like dry skin but we are a little worried that it started just one day after starting the bananas. We have gone back to the applesauce and pears for a bit and started putting Vaseline on her face. The nurse at daycare told us that bananas are usually pretty hypoallergenic so it is most likely not the cause of the skin problems but better to be safe than sorry. We will try again in a few weeks.
Alice's "boyfriend", Collin (our neighbor who is 3 weeks older than Alice) came over for a stroller ride and play date this weekend. He is really a talker and has started to laugh - so adorable. Looks like he is getting ready to eat Alice in this picture while she looks like she is saying "get a load of this guy". Looking back at the blog post on 12/11/08 - they have grown so much in just a month. Vicky (Collin's mother) and I are making plans to get the kids together much more often, especially as the weather gets nice. I am so happy that these two will be able to grow up together.
