OK, so CLEARLY, John and I are insanely proud of our girl. We call our parents almost everyday to tell them about the new, awesome thing that Alice did that day. Thank God for free long distance. :)
The next big thing that is on the list for Alice to check off is using utensils to eat. We decided to give it a whirl for the first time last night with one of her favorite meals - baked fish sticks, lima beans, mashed potatoes, and tangerines. She rocked the spoon!!! I do, however, think that we will be having mashed potatoes with every meal for a while as it makes terrific glue.
After showing her stellar abilities with the spoon, we decided that an extra special treat was in order. Ice Cream Sandwich!
Hope you enjoy Alice being, well, Alice. You can't tell at all that John and I are impressed! LOL!

Parent/Teacher Conference & Report Card
I went to Alice's Parent/Teacher Conference yesterday. There could not be two prouder parents than John and I! Alice's teachers, Ms. T and Ms. C told me that Alice is a very sweet and smart little girl and is right on track with their projected goals. Around 18-20 months, Alice will be moving into the Early Preschool class so between now and this summer, Alice will be learning to eat with utensils and drink from a regular cup. She is also going to be working on giving up the pacifier during nap time. (We still let her have it in the car and at bedtime.) As you can see from the report card below, Alice is doing beautifully! We know in our hearts that we have a super smart girl but it is great to get the confirmation from an outside party.
John and I expressed some concerns over her aggressive behavior and were told that while she is rough, they do not feel it is aggression, but the fact that she does not understand her limits and her strength. They tell me that she is very affectionate with the teachers and other children. She gives hugs a lot but tends to end up pushing the other child off their feet. I was told that when another child is crying, Alice goes over to that child and pats them on the head - how cute is that!
Alice is a dancing machine! We discovered by accident this weekend that she LOVES Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and other music from that genre but HATES Elvis. LOL. She has been bopping her head and is now getting her hips and butt into the mix. She is just so funny!
Another new thing is that Alice is starting to give kisses when asked. She has apparently taken some cues from Europeans because she wants to kiss you on both cheeks - she will actually move your face so she can get the other cheek. Her kisses mostly consist of an open mouth bump on the face, occasionally with tongue. She wants to kiss you on the lips but goes a little too far with the tongue. lol
Oh, here is another funny. Every night, at bedtime, I will ask Alice if she is ready for bed. Without even a whine, she heads for the stairs and start climbing up to her room. Wow, I know we have it so good right now...wish I could bottle this perfectly behaved child and let some of it out when she is 13!
All in all, Alice is doing awesome. She is an amazing little creature and such a joy to watch. We are the luckiest parents in the world.

Itsy Bitsy Spider
Alice dances so much these days. It is just too cute. She rocks back and forth, bobs her head, and bounces up and down to the beat any time we have music playing. She loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider song and you can see that she is sort of mimicking the motions that the teachers do in school. Enjoy!
