Alice has been giving us a hard time when it comes to eating her vegetables since she started on table food. She LOVED the baby food veggies but it seems that as soon as they were in solid form, they became a No-Go. John and I serve a veg almost every night and we try lots of different ways to get them into her - covering with cheese, playing airplane and train, feeding ourselves off of her plate
"MMMM, Daddy thinks this is yummy"... you get the idea. We are not too concerned because she eats fruit like it is her job and everything I have read tells me that this is a phase and that she will change her eating habits soon. While ChaCha and I were shopping, we came this book and decided to bring it home. Click for more info:
Deceptively Delicious
Alice's favorite food is Macaroni and Cheese so I knew that it would be the first recipe to try. I bought, roasted, and pureed a butternut squash (super easy, btw) and followed the directions for the mac and cheese. I let Alice try the squash puree before I mixed it to see what her reaction would be and sure enough, she spit it out. To my surprise, the mac and cheese was really yummy and it was exceedingly creamy and gooey - just the way we like it.

Now for the taste test....SHE LOVED IT!!!!! And I don't feel the slightest bit guilty! :)

Let me know if you want the recipe!
