OK, so I realize that I have not blogged since the end of November - shame on me. We have been up to a million!!! Hope this photo-heavy will make up for the lack of recent posts.
Alice got a trike for her 2nd birthday and she just loves riding it. Almost as much as she loves wearing her special hat. It is amazing what kids get excited about if you phrase it properly and talk it up! Wish it worked with eating vegetables - think that will be a life long struggle.
Last month, we finally found out the sex of the twins! BOYS!!! As the Ultrasound Tech said, "Whoa, they are definitely boys!" I was nervous at first since all we know is girl stuff but the more I think about it the more I realize that is the perfect scenario. Alice is still being very possessive of her stuff and even though I know that will change over time, the fact that she will still have her "girly" stuff that the boys will not be into is a good thing. She will get to be the bossy big sister (I think she will be very good at that :)) and the boys will be her protectors as they grow up. I think if we had even one girl, there would be many more issues.
Due to bad weather and school closings, Alice attended my office Christmas luncheon. It was catered by a Mexican restaurant which was perfect since Alice LOVES refried beans. The conference room was all decked out in a Mexican theme and included sets of maracas. Alice was very entertaining with the "Racas" but got very shy whenever anyone tried to take her picture. Fast forward to that evening and all the days since....whenever she takes out the racas, she insists that I get out the camera and "take picture". Here are just a few of the MANY maraca pictures. What a little ham!
My mother (GaGa) and John's father (BaBa) recorded story books for Alice this year. Such an awesome way for them to read to her. She is enthralled with them and wants to read them over and over and over.
Alice hit the jackpot on Christmas morning. She got a kitchen set, twin stroller, Mommy set which includes a stroller, crib, and high chair for her dolls, a sit and spin, and tons of books and other miscellaneous toys.
She spends a lot of time setting her babies around the table and making meals for them. Lately she has been offering us coffee and tea - and then asking us if we want more? We end up drinking A LOT of coffee and tea because it is just so cute to see her run back and forth and be so pleased with herself.
On January 10th, Huntsville was 'pounded' with 8-10 inches of snow. While that amount is a joke in our house, the city all but shut down. School was closed all week so daycare was too. Thanks to GaGa, Alice is the only little girl in Alabama with a proper snowsuit so we got all bundled up and went out to play. She had a BLAST!!

John and I painted the boy's room over Christmas and it has really been coming together. John's parents were very generous to buy two new cribs and a lot of the bedding. My mom made the curtains. The theme is a blue/green plaid which you can see better in the 3rd pic with the diaper stacker. It has a very nautical feel - the sheets and mobiles have little sailboats. Very, very cute! We decided to keep a twin bed in the room temporarily as I think John and I will be sleeping there many nights as we deal with midnight feedings. The bedding on the twin bed is for Alice's big girl room...whimsy woodland animals and owls. When she is ready, we will move her into the current guest room and make her current room the new guest room. Right now, she is still very content to be in her crib - not even interested in the toddler bed, and has not even attempted to climb out of the crib. So, there she stays until she is ready for a change. I am sort of glad that she does not want to move yet. I don't want to shock her too much with so many of the changes that are coming in the next few months.
January 3rd-13th was a very busy time in our home. My brothers, Tim and Kevin, came down and closed in our screened porch. They did a
fabulous job and John and I are so appreciative of their hard work! Alice LOVED having Unca Tim and Unca Kebin visiting and as you can see was equally excited about the renovations! The pics below are of the entire process. John and I have to finish painting this weekend, the carpet comes on Monday, then we just have to get some kid friendly furniture. The plan is to put the boy's pack and plays in there so they can nap during the day without me having to get both of them up the stairs. We can also put the bulky items (swings, bouncers, etc) in there and will not have to disrupt too much of Alice's stuff. She will have to share a lot of her space but I don't think it will be too traumatic.
I promise I will not let another 7 weeks go by without another post..... I am working on making some changes to the blog to reflect our additions so I will keep everyone posted on that!
