Playmates
Collin, his mom, Vicky, and sister, Taylor, came over for dinner on Saturday. He and Alice are still at the age where they play together but not with each other. They sort of ignore each other unless one of them has something the other wants. It was a very messy evening. Collin is definitely ALL boy - he likes to dump things on the floor where as Alice likes organizing. We think they had fun together though.

Everyday it's something...
It seems as though we have been very busy but we don't really have much to show for it.
My mom (GaGa) came for a visit the first weekend in June. She and Alice had lots of fun together and there were a lot of tears when the weekend came to an end. Alice still asks for GaGa and will not allow anyone to sit in the chair that GaGa sat in for meals. That should get interesting when we have other company. While my mom was here we went to the Botanical Gardens. Alice was not too thrilled with the butterfly house - she is so nervous about moving things when they are close to her...dog tails, animatronic statues, butterflies, birds. She loves looking at these things from a distance.
Alice is doing so well in her new class. It has been about a month and last week she didn't cry when I left her in the morning. She is getting much more comfortable with the other kids and the teachers. There is one little boy, Jack, who has a bit of a crush on her, I think. Every morning when we arrive to school, Jack comes over and gives her a big hug. It looks like Alice tolerates him which is funny. John is amusingly concerned about the hugging thing - lol. He has already started planning out what he is going to say to boys during the teen years.
The words just keep coming and coming these days. I have recently been promoted from Mama to Mommy. Also new this month are: poon=spoon, fok=fork (at least we hope it is fork), lala=Layla, nana=banana. She says thank you but only in the similar sounding cadence, not actual words. And the word we have been dreading..... NO. She says it with a little rise at the end as if she is asking. So funny and cute.

Oh, I almost forgot! John and I have each found Alice with one leg over the crib railing! We have a toddler bed and I am going to get busy this week refinishing it. We are going to put the other mattress under her crib and slide it out at night so in case she gets ambitious, she will have a soft landing. Hard to believe that she is old enough and big enough to be trying to escape. 20 months old this past Saturday - so close to 2! wow!
John's parents, ChaCha and Grampa are coming to HSV for the week of July 4th. We are looking forward to more fun with them and lots of pool time.

Kisses...Fishy Style
Alice is most definitely a fashion plate. She loves wearing hats and sunglasses, especially if they are Daddy's and Mommy's.
Another love...Fishy Kisses! When we ask her for a kiss, she sometimes obliges. When we ask for a fishy kiss, she stops what she is doing and runs over to give them out, then wants Eskimo kisses!
